At DENIVA, our mission is to empower local NGOs and communities in Uganda through a collaborative approach that emphasizes sustainable development and social accountability. Since our inception in 1988, we have evolved into a vital network representing over 700 member organizations across the country, all united in advocating for people-centered solutions.
Our Approach.
1. Collective Reflection and Action: We provide a platform for our members to engage in meaningful dialogue, share experiences, and develop strategies that reflect the needs and aspirations of the communities they serve. Through workshops, training sessions, and forums, we facilitate discussions that inspire collective action toward common goals.
2. Advocacy for Human Rights: Our programs focus on promoting governance and human rights. We believe that by strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs), we can create a more accountable and transparent environment that empowers marginalized voices and fosters equitable development.
3. Sustainable Livelihoods: We work alongside our members to implement initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods. This includes providing technical support, resources, and training to enhance economic opportunities for individuals and communities. We prioritize gender mainstreaming and youth empowerment to ensure inclusive development.
4. Strengthening Civil Society: As the Secretariat for the NGO Quality Assurance Mechanism (QuAM) and the Eastern Africa Regional Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction, we are committed to enhancing the effectiveness of civil society organizations. We provide guidance on best practices, resource mobilization, and institutional development to help our members thrive.
5. Networking and Collaboration: We foster partnerships and collaboration among our member organizations and other stakeholders. By building networks, we enable knowledge sharing, resource mobilization, and collective action toward shared development objectives.
Commitment to Accountability.
At DENIVA, we uphold principles of accountability and transparency in all our activities. We regularly monitor and evaluate our programs to ensure that they are meeting the needs of our communities and contributing to meaningful change.
